LEARNING BY DOING

It was the last school day today. The two working groups met to point out eveything it has been learned during these days. Anna, Lia and I, have been asked to make a brief presentation to express our emotions after our activities and  our visit to the RAMM museum. We talked  about what interested us the most and what we would like to take  back  home.

Alina and Maddalena, who were in another course, showed us some great activities which could well be used with our pupils. It was fun and interesting. Finally each of us  receveid an attendance certificate. Then we had a farewell throught a Devon CREAM TEA.

Although challenging, this esperience has been positive. I've come back home richer in my language skills  and  I'm sure that this experience will help me for the future and will a stimulus for other people. Thanks to Esther and Julie from Italian staff!

British Education System

Working in group to know the British Education System.
In the Uk it is compulsory for children to be in education  between the ages of 5 and 18.There are 5 key stages in the British school system.
There are different exams: at the end  of Key Stage Two pupils take SATs. During Year  9, pupils will study  for their GCSEs, which they take at the end of year 11, then the students followed closely by AS   levels  (year12) and A2 levels .
The information receveid have been learned trought  the use of digital tools and working in group .

EXPERIENCING CREATIVE METHODOLOGY

After  analyzing teachers’ needs, the lesson aimed to improve personal and professional skills in order to meet the individual learners' needs and reinforce their competences through creative teaching.

We did a VAK test in order to investigate our main learning styles and discover what kind of learners we are and also a questionnaire to find out which intelligences (Gardner) we need to focus on more in our teaching. For me are naturalist and musical ones … good to know!

These are a few samples of Multiple Intelligences based activities...
Well done!

Enjoy working

Structured course "Better English For teachers" aims to make teachers improve their English skills and use the language in real life and school context.
First day at IPC

Revision time: a memory game

Towards the end of the KA1 project

October 29th
Five teachers and the headteacher of the Istituto Comprensivo "S.G. Bosco - Benedetto XIII - Poggiorsini are  in Exeter, Devon in the UK. After a long journey we arrived to the amazing Exeter.

Breathtaking views made us forget the long journey to our final destination: IPC Exeter. We received a warm welcome by the Study director Nick Floyd and our trainers, Esther and Julie.
This is a quite period of the year for the School. Only the six of us and Joao, a Portuguese teacher are attending courses with the Erasmus plus grant. Esther has been great with Alina and me because she created a combination of two courses which meets the needs of both us. New vocabolary, idiomatic sentences and colloquial expressions, together with pairwork and individual practice have offered ideas to use in class with our lazy students and the willing ones.

After the lesson Roger, the IPC guide, took us  on a city centre tour.

Effective use of technology with the classroom

THE FABULOUS DAN, OUR TEACHER

 Erasmus plus at Scarborough
Un'esperienza indimenticabile  Unforgettable experience.

Full immersion  di inglese. Lezioni mattino e pomeriggio, famiglia ospitante, scuola internazionale.

...let's keep going with the methodology course.

Listening: an example.
Pair work.
  1. Student A has got a complete drawing of a kitchen and he has to tell student B ( who has got the same incomplete drawing) what thinks to draw and where to draw them.
  2. Student B has to listen carefully and complete the drawing.

Speaking: an example.
Pair work: watching  a video.
  1. First part of the video: student A close the eyes while student B explains what is happening on the video.
  2. Second part of the video: change role.
  3. Both students watch all the video to check their listening.
Eccellent activity to practice vocabulary and grammar as well.

At the methodology course...

Reading, writing, listening and speaking are developped through a range of exciting exercises which could motivate our students to learn a foreign language in an attractive way.

Reading: an example.
Before starting:
  1. brainstorming with  the class about the missing word of the title of the article written on the board;
  2. invite students to write down some questions whose answers they would expect to find in the article.
This pre-reading activity makes the students curious to read the article and find the answers.

Writing: an example.
Meeting with the famous English writer G.P. Taylor who told us how to start writing a story: create the profile of the main character.
  1. Physical description (e.g. size, appearance...).
  2. Emotional description (e.g. optimiste, sad...).
  3. Dark side (e.g. anger, lack of listening..).
